Want to know what happens to your recycling and rubbish?
If you're a Southwark resident you can get behind the scenes at your local waste management facility. You can see:
- your recycling being sorted into different streams by machine and hand
- your waste processed into fuel before being sent to SELCHP where it is then turned into electricity for 48,000 homes and heat and hot water for 2,800 homes

Tour dates for group visits can be arranged by completing the Southwark Group Tour online form.
School visits can be arranged by filling in the online school recycling discovery centre form.

and arrival
Accessible toilet
Accessible toilet and baby change table located on the ground floor.
Lifts
We have one lift that can be used to access the presentation room on the first floor, it is wheelchair accessible.
Sensory support
Ear defenders and face masks are available for visitors.
We have a sensory map located on this website, and hard copies available at reception.
There is a small collection of sensory fidget toys in the Recycling Discovery Centre, please let our staff know if you would like to borrow these during your visit.
